Charlene Gawa - two works

Charlene Gawa is very local, and very enthusiastic, not only about her work but about the Los Feliz community.  In future months she has promised to open her studio for an Art Walk evening.  This Friday, February 6, some of her work is being exhibited at the Courtyard Studio & Arts gallery.

Coming Soon!!  The work of neighborhood artist Mara Safransky: paintings, drawings, hand-made cards!

June 2008:  A Plein Air Painting event, featuring a local club of plein air artists.

New exhibit at Happy on Hollywood Blvd. has a new show opening February 6 featuring selected serigraphs by David Weidman.

On the Barnsdall Art Park Hilltop

The Municipal Gallery is dark right now! 'From Here to There; Southern California Artists from Israel" opens Sunday, February 15, 2009.

The Barnsdall Junior Arts Center has a new exhibit. The opening reception for "Living Arts Exhibit" is Saturday, February 7, 3-6 p.m.featuring "work of the residents of independent, assisted living and convalescent sites throughout Los Angeles and the Living Arts Children 's Outreach Program."

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Junior Arts director Istiharoh Glasgow. The family is asking for donations to "My Neighborhood International" that the family started with the mission of "Empowering Youth Throught the Arts" (My Neighborhood International c/o Mutahar Glasgow, 126 Lomita Drive, Mill Valley, CA 94941).

What happened to January, 2009?

We got the word out just in time that, because of the immediate proximity to New Year's Day, few people wanted to commit to mounting an exhibition.  See the January 2009 Los Feliz Art Talk newsletter. 

Thanks to Dove Pressnall, however, who invited in some folks to view and discuss her ongoing exhibit of Survivors' Truths -- photographs and video of reckoning and re-awakening after the Liberian civil war.
