The Courtyard Gallery and Arts is dark Friday, August 7. Please enjoy the other galleries and studios which are open.
Here are five different events scheduled, including Shakespeare, a wine tasting, an ice cream social and other expressions of art.
August 7: BARNSDALL: WEST LAWN

Take a Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece, one of Los Angeles’s best public spaces and cultural institutions, and bring a rotating series of boutique/small-production artisanal wines for tasting. You’ve got to be kidding. Why hasn’t anyone done this sooner? Patron of the arts and unconventional spirit Aline Barnsdall would be proud to see her homestead used for this purpose when Silverlake Wine starts tastings on the west lawn at Olive Hill/Barnsdall Park.” – LA Weekly
Unwind and enjoy the beautiful Barnsdall Art Park as the sun is setting, from the gated gardens in the West Lawn of the historic Hollyhock House. Silverlake Wine will present four selections of boutique, small production, artisanal wines from around the globe. As featured in LA Weekly, LA Times, Urban Daddy, and FoodGPS.

Ongoing cool exhibit now, including Friday night, August 7. Stop in and see some of the best of current student work.
August 7: HAPPY: Scoops Ice Cream, Great Art and Summer Sale - oh my!
Join us this Friday, Happy will be open late in conjunction with the Los Feliz Art Walk. Our featured artist is Jim Gentry and showing in the project room is Leia Jervert. If you haven't had a chance to see the shows, Friday is a great night to stop in. We will be having complimentary ice cream from Scoops! Also, starting Thursday, is Happy's Summer Sale with up to 50% off items storewide, all weekend long. We hope you can come join us for some art, yummy ice cream, and great deals at HAPPY!
August 7: INDEPENDENT SHAKESPEARE COMPANY
Friday night's performance of The Tempest begins at 7:30 p.m. on the grass at the hilltop Barnsdall Art Park between Hollyhock House and the Junior Arts Center. Alternating performances with Henry V Thursdays-Sundays through August 30, plus other special events. Admission is free, donations gratefully received. August 9: CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
A celebration of art, children and community, the 24th Annual Children's Festival of the Arts: Sunday, August 9, Noon-4:30 p.m. at Paramount Pictures studios, 5555 Melrose Avenue (Bronson Gate) in Hollywood: Art, performances, workshops. All activities and performances are free and handicap accessible. Food will be on sale.
